George Huang, Director of Wisdom, was invited to contribute the Taiwan chapter to the second edition of Patent Law in Greater China, published by Edward Elgar Publishing as part of the Elgar Intellectual Property Law and Practice series. This publication provides a comprehensive analysis of patent law systems and policy developments across Taiwan, Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau.

In the nearly one hundred pages comprising the Taiwan chapter, Wisdom provides a systematic and practice-oriented overview of the Taiwanese patent system. This includes patent applications for inventions, utility models, and designs; patentability requirements; and the substantive examination process alongside effective prosecution strategies. The chapter also addresses re-examination procedures, administrative remedies, patent linkage, and post-grant mechanisms such as invalidation and amendments.

Furthermore, the chapter discusses patent infringement litigation, covering infringement determination, available remedies, litigation procedures, and key doctrines such as patent exhaustion. Important judicial decisions and recent practical challenges encountered in Taiwanese patent practice are also reviewed and analyzed.

Through this contribution, Wisdom aims to provide practitioners, businesses, and scholars with a comprehensive and practical reference for understanding the patent system and litigation practice in Taiwan.
