We are honored to share that the “Analysis of Design Infringement Litigation Statistics and Similarity Judgment in Taiwan” co-authored by Wisdom was published in March 2023 by the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association, commissioned by the Japan Patent Office (JPO). The report (full version) can be found here.

Focusing on design infringement in Taiwan, the report first explains the basic principles of similarity judgment, and analyzes the statistics of design infringement litigation over the past 10 years. It then discusses the applicability of the three-way comparison method adopted since 2016 and the determination of the key element of similarity judgment - "parts or features that easily attract consumers' attention.” Finally, we offer suggestions for Japanese companies.
